BOYD ELECTRONIC CENTER
Trinidad State Junior College -- Trinidad, Colorado
The $1.7 million renovation project created a telecommunication, multi-media, and computer center for the retrieval and distribution of electronic data and alternative educational offerings.
The project transformed a decidedly "low-tech" physical plant shop and garage into a "high-tech" facility to serve the campus and provide outreach for the public school system, the community, and the very large rural TSJC service area.
The new facility included a teleconference center, a broadcast studio, a tiered distance learning lecture hall, training, repair and office space, and the fiber-optic hub for "smart classrooms" for the College and satellite campuses. Innovative organization of spaces eliminated corridors and allows the facility and programs to be open and visible from the central lobby.
Architecture Matters also prepared the CCHE program plan that successfully procured state funding for the project.
